Updated: Jul 11, 2021

The Australian and State governments provide a range of grant and funding opportunities that your school might be eligible to access. Below are some options that Urban Green Farms can assist with.

The Queensland Citizen Science Grant To support increasing public participation in Queensland scientific research the Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist is offering competitive Queensland Citizen Science Grants. The grants are designed to support scientists, organisations and community groups to conduct citizen science projects that tackle important issues in Queensland.

Inspiring Victoria grants Inspiring Australia Victoria aims to fund activities that help people engage in science.Funding is for events that take place in Victoria. Due to the limited availability of funding, the costs of salaries, capital equipment and catering are unlikely to be funded.

VIC- Creative Learning Partnerships Creative Learning Partnerships provides the opportunity for Victorian schools to partner with creative professionals or arts and cultural organisations.  It involves school communities in creative partnership projects while providing students, teachers and creative professionals with diverse and challenging learning experiences.  This residency program supports schools to explore how creativity can enhance and advance education outcomes across the curriculum from Foundation to Year 10, including VET and VCAL.

Inspiring NSW grants Each year, Inspiring Australia (NSW) offers funding to NSW stakeholders to deliver high-profile community events during National Science Week and at other times of the year. These grants have enabled NSW to grow its statewide National Science week offering while also allowing NSW Regional Science Hubs to deliver entertaining programing throughout the year. The NSW Science Grants program is funded by the NSW Department of Industry and the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation and Science. It aims to develop the network of NSW Regional Science Hubs – local partnerships that bring together multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver high-profile STEM engagement programs in NSW.

QLD-Peter Doherty Awards for Excellence in STEM Education  The Peter Doherty Awards for Excellence in STEM Education recognise students, teachers, support officers, schools and education partners (volunteers, mentors and organisations) who demonstrate an outstanding and innovative contribution to STEM education in Queensland.2020 marks the 17th year of the awards named after Professor Peter Doherty, a Brisbane-born Nobel Prize-winning scientist, who was educated at Indooroopilly State High School and the University of Queensland.

NSW-Supporting Young Scientists Program The NSW Department Planning, Industry & Environment, through the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer (OCSE) manages the Supporting Young Scientists Program (SYSP).The SYSP is offering grants to NSW high school students participating in competitions, events or courses, either domestically or internationally, which offer the potential for significant educational advancement in an area related to science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). The grant is provided for competition, events or courses being held from July 2019 to June 2020

QLD-Engaging Science Grants  To help increase the reach of science in Queensland we are supporting scientists, researchers, science communicators, journalists, teachers, organisations and community groups to develop and deliver science engagement and communication projects, events and activities. You can apply for funding of up to $10,000 if your project relates to at least one of goals in our Engaging Queenslanders in Science strategy.

INSPIRING SOUTH AUSTRALIAN STEM GRANTS The school grant program is intended to contribute to the running of a National Science Week activity or event in a school. Preschools, primary schools and secondary schools are encouraged to apply for up to $500 to assist in producing any science activity or event during National Science Week. A total of $90 000 is available each year.Successful projects are incredibly varied: some involve just a class, others the whole school and sometimes even neighbouring schools and the wider community.Applicants are encouraged to focus on how science, engineering, technology and mathematics influence our lives, our economy, our society and our world.

WA- STEM LEARNING INTO ACTION  Maker Projects will offer grants of between $2 000 and $5 000 for schools to cover the costs of tools, equipment, specialised furniture and consumables needed to establish maker spaces that encourage STEM experimentation and tinkering in a supervised and accessible environment. It will also support community organisations with grants of between $5 000 and $20 000 to expand existing STEM engagement activities and link young people with local experts, inventors, entrepreneurs and industries.
